This weekend was another successful one for the SCSBC men’s squad at Tees Small Boats Head. Firstly the novice crew making a debut for the season, and finishing as the fastest Durham college novice mens crew. This boat was made up of Fiona Hardyman, Ross Williams, Robert Sinclair, Daniel Rowbottom and Adam Wilson. Cuth’s was also the fastest and second fastest overall Durham college crew, with great races from the IM2 4+, made up of Emily Greenaway, Will Moreland, Seb Dooley, J-L Wilkinson and Ivor Green, and the IM3 4+ made up of Michael Foulkes, Hugh Crawshaw, Tim Seeger, Alasdair Macfarlane and Ed Williams. Both of these crews won their respective categories. This maintains the strong start SCSBC mens squad has had this season, we are now aiming to do the same at York Small Boats head in a fortnights time. J-L Wilkinson and Will Moreland also won their IM3 double sculls category at Tees Small Boats Head earlier in the day.
Great success was secured once again by Cuth’s women’s 1st IV on Saturday at Tees Small Boats Head. The illustrious title of fastest women’s college crew was maintained from last week, beating the next fastest women’s college crew by a massive 50 seconds. The IV consisting of Ellie Phipps, Lucy Iball, Ffion Roberts, Charlie Denney and Tabitha Serle sadly missed out on an IM3 win to a York City crew, however they beat every crew in the division above theirs.
