Over the last year, the men’s squad has led the inter-collegiate field, with an incredibly strong 1st VIII, winning various competitions and competing against many University and Club squads.  The women’s squad raced at WEHoRR on the Thames and still swept up victories in Durham and elsewhere. Every year we bring more young men and women into sport with our Novice squads and get them involved out on the water, typified by an impressive victory this year for the novice IV at Hexham regatta. With the largest boat house of any Durham college and surely at the most authoritative position on the river (the SCSBC boathouse is used for every regatta that takes place on the Wear and many other competitions) and its impressive heritage, it would be a treat for any company or financial body to support.

With a flourishing social scene and many traditional events each year, including the Annual Boat Club Dinner (anyone supporting the boat club is always invited to this), the boat club involves at least 150  people in its four squads alone, all Durham University undergraduates and postgraduates bonded together by the boat house and our friendly socials. Our attendance at such a high number of events all year round means that it is impossible for the club or our distinctive racing green kit to go unnoticed, especially to other members of the College and the University.
