The Men’s squad had a successful day’s racing at Durham Small Boat’s Head on home water, racing against other colleges as well as other local clubs. The IM2 4+ of Fiona Hardyman, Hugh Crawshaw, J-L Wilkinson, Ross Williams and Henry Brown performed well, coming third out of the colleges and 26th out of the 350 boats racing that day. The IM3 4+ of Michael Foulks, Jack Towers, Hal Endersby, Kajwan Rasul and Rob Sinclair came 10th out of the college 4+s while the Nov4+ of Dafydd Jones, James Winsey, Alex Ralfs and Alex Bibby came 11th, demonstrating the strength in depth of the squad. Another Nov 4+ raced with Nick Heeks, Jonny Austin and Aidan Marfleet from the senior squad and a special mention to Michael Williams who stepped up from the novice squad, slotting in very well.
All in all it was a strong performance in the fours before the Hayward cup in the 8+ next weekend.
The senior women’s squad performed extremely well at Durham Small Boat’s Head last weekend. The IM2 4+ of Rosi, Jess, Lucy and Tabitha coxed by Michael came first in their category (and first out of all coxed women’s boats!) which they were extremely pleased with. The Novice 4+ of Hester, Helen, Connie and Darcey coxed by Laura also did very well, coming second out of Durham colleges and 5th overall in their category. The Novice 4+ of Ella S, Helen, Ella H and Chloe coxed by Alistair continued the senior squads strong set of results, beating a number of novice and IM3 college crews. We’re hoping to continue our successes next weekend at Hayward Cup!
